Together with the cottage, (a sorry antediluvian makeshift of a building, you may think it), what was of much more importance, a fine litter of new–farrowed pigs, no less than nine in number, perished.

This was intended for a Christmas gift. The recipient wasn't too thrilled. The entire series published by Penguin Books is really quite clever. They took works by famous individuals, some from the culinary world and reproduced them. I thought it was interesting to read about life in other times. Kudos to Penguin for doing this, anyway!
Read this book in college and remembered it with fondness. Decided to read it again. Never forgot the names and title "Lamb" and "Roast Pig" what and incongruous pairing. But a delightful story that will stick to your ribs forever!
Perfect gift for a friend who loves to barbecue. Thanks to the Library of Congress for scanning such great original manuscripts. A real must for anyone who loves to barbecue, especially a whole pig.
