To be a patriot, supporting the US constitution and bill of rights, is to be deemed a terrorist by the New World Order. A relic from the biblical past holds the key to the mystery surrounding the Ark of the Covenant...so, naturally there are some conflicts here, involving the CIA, Mossad, devout Christians, the New World Army and, oh, yes...a conspiracy to invoke a war that would remove the scourge of religion from the world. A few heavy readings (in italics) do no harm to the story, either. Huxley and Orwell only scratched the surface in this genre.
when I started this book, I though I was getting into something like the Davinci Code. Well, it's not. I wanted to understand the ring but I was lost and bored every time I had to leave the present tense and go back in time. I found myself speed reading just to get back to the present. However, in the present there is a lot of talk about religion while many. many people are killed. It was hard to care about the hero when he was killing many soldiers that were probably just doing as they were told. I found myself just trying to finish what I started...complete the book. I prefer reading books I cannot put down because they have a strong storyline.
This book has it all. The pace makes it hard to put down. I want to think the author for NOT disrupting the story at crucial points with long narratives of weapon specifications as most books of this nature do. He actually gives the reader enough intelligence to understand the destructive purpose and result of weapons even if we do not know or care about their exact specifications.

This book has it all - history, mystery, lost love, death of friends, betrayals, govt.'s love of power, falling from grace, and redemption. Nothing is as it seems and no one is to be trusted. A book that can be a prophecy of our tomorrows unless we are vigilant.
Absolutely could not put this down! This is one of the most consistently mind-bending, adrenaline-laced books I have ever read. Every time I thought I figured out who was on which side and who could or could not be trusted, Hopkins threw in another twist to the story.

On the surface, this is a fantastic conspiracy theory story with more layers of intrigue than in most books. But if you can make yourself slow down enough to consider the belief systems behind the various players in this story, it actually becomes a terrifying possibility ... and one that flies in the face of our American-centric value system.
If you are into dystopian futures, historical fiction, espionage, murder and mayhem, and a little bit of the supernatural thrown in just for s%i&a and giggles, then I HIGHLY recommend this book!

It is well written, exciting, and truly fascinating from many different points of view. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
While adventuresome and mysterious for religious fiction, the middle third felt like the author, Shawn Hopkins wasn't even sure himself where he was going with the story. The character development was great,especially for the main character,yet through the entire book he feels he is a horrible human for something he did and a rusty saw in Iran. This runs through the whole book yet we never find out about the rusty saw and in the last few pages it's mentioned he was ordered to do something in L.A. which is what haunts him. As far as the religious vein that causes the death of so many it goes from obscure philosophers to Shakespeare to three different Jewish groups the pope and King Solomon's temple with the Ark of the Covenant. Oh, and Roswell! It's a shame because the writing had some good points but the plot was convoluted and never really explained in a way that made sense.
If you like high drama and an action pack thriller your will love The Solomon Key by Shawn Hopkins. This pre-apocalyptic novel will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next twist to the plot.

I really like the way Shawn Hopkins developed the characters. Each character was both believable and easy to identify with. I like a book where it is hard to tell who the good guys vs. the bad guys ultimately are. It will keep you guessing and wanting more.

The storyline was well developed and easy to follow. With all the twist and turns in the story I never lost my place. I found it exciting and hard to put down. There was one section in the middle of the book where it got bogged down with describing history which was tedious but, in the end it added to the understanding of the ultimate plot. So plug through this section, it is worth it.
